All International and Exchange Program (including Study Abroad) Students are mandated to have insurance and eligible to enroll in USF’s Student Health Insurance Plan. To activate enrollment in the USF Student Health Insurance Plan, Students pay USF directly via OASIS prior to the 1st day of the term or submit a waiver, providing proof of an adequate alternative policy.
Intercollegiate Athletes, College of Marine Science, College of Medicine, College of Pharmacy, College of Nursing, and students participating in Optical Practical Training (OPT) or Curricular Practical Training (CPT) are mandated to have insurance and eligible to enroll in the USF Student Health Insurance Plan. Students enroll online and pay AHP directly at time of enrollment (see Online Enrollment section below).
Graduate/Research/Teaching Assistants (GA/RA/TA) employed by USF in one of the following job codes: 9181, 9182, 9183, 9184, 9185, or 9550 that work a minimum of 10 hours a week (.25 FTE of higher) are eligible to enroll in the USF Student Health Insurance Plan during open enrollment, as outlined by the University. If you are an international GA student, enrolling in coverage is mandatory. Once you have an offer letter, allow 3-5 business days for an activation invite email from the Academic HealthPlans enrollment portal, Care26 ([email protected]). You must have this invite to be able to enroll for the GA/RA/TA Subsidy Insurance Policy. You may see the premium amount listed when going through this process. You will not be required to make payment at this time. USF GA students will pay the subsidized employee portion via payroll deduction and the breakdown can be found here.
Department Sponsored are students sponsored for health insurance by their department and are eligible to enroll in the USF Student Health Insurance Plan once USF verifies eligibility. Students enroll directly with USF, and the sponsoring department pays the insurance premium.
Post-Doctoral Scholars are eligible to enroll in the USF Student Health Insurance Plan at registration, subject to the insurance requirements as outlined by the University. Post-Doctoral Scholars pay the employee portion via payroll deduction.
Eligible students that enroll in the USF Student Health Insurance Plan may also enroll their dependents. Dependent coverage is paid directly to AHP at time of enrollment (see Online Enrollment section below). Post Doctoral Scholar dependents can be enrolled and should refer to the USF guidelines for payment options.
